The Sister Agnes Somers Society

The Sister Agnes Somers Society was established by The College of St. Scholastica to honor those who make a significant commitment to the future of the College.

Sister Agnes shared Mother Scholastica's dream of a College that would grow, and she, perhaps more than any other one person, made that vision come true. As the first president of the College, Sister Agnes possessed the vision and daring to build during the Depression, ensuring the beauty and stability of the campus and its buildings in the future.

The Sister Agnes Somers Society honors those who, in their vision, have remembered St. Scholastica in their estate plans. The Sister Agnes Somers Society members include all those who establish trusts, establish some other type of planned gift for the College, or remember St. Scholastica in their wills.

The College's original recognition society for such planned gifts was called the Heritage Society. In honor of Sister Agnes, the Heritage Society was renamed the Sister Agnes Somers Society.

Each year a day is set aside to induct new members into the Society and to thank present members for their generosity and vision. The College also recognizes the importance of the Benedictine community, retired faculty and staff, alumni, and friends who have given of themselves to ensure the future of The College of St. Scholastica. We are eternally grateful.
